Review time! Mini Sephora haul 💄
6.2.16Hi friends!
I hope everyone is surviving winter. I know I'm not...
Although, Shubenacadie Sam says that winter should now be coming to an end so let's all cross our fingers that our little groundhog friend is actually right. If he's not, I'm fearing for his life. There will be some ANGRY maritimers that's for damn sure.
Any who, on to more important things! Like me, sharing some new little Sephora finds with you lovely people.
Right before Christmas I had a $25 credit as most other VIB and VIB Rouge members also had. I really did not need anything in specific so I took forever to actually decide what I wanted to get!
I really like buying mini samples, giving them a try and then buying the full versions later - so that's what I did!
I ended up buying the tarte Amazonian clay concealer, pressed makeup forever HD powder and they're real gel push up liner.
I have heard amazing things about all of these so I figured this was a great time to test 'me out!
I'll start with the Tarte Amazonian Clay Concealer.
• First of all I LOVE the packaging, it's so small and sleek it actually looks just like a lipstick.
• I had really high expectations for this because a) the price and b) everyone raves over the whole Amazonian clay line. However, I gotta say I'm not that impressed. I find the staying power to be horrible and if I'm trying to cover a blemish, the spot looks red again immediately after I blend.
• I feel as though in order to get decent coverage (and I'm not covering like volcanoes on my face, I'm talking small bumps) I've gotta do two layers. Which is annoying because I kinda wanted a concealer that I could take on the go with me and do a quick touch up job
• On the other hand, I also wanted a concealer that could double as an under eye brightener and this is great for that! Because it's so light it doesn't look cakey. I hate when you can tell that someone has conceled their under eye area.
In conclusion: I'd say great for an under eye concealer or maybe for someone who's face doesn't get as red as mine, but didn't live up to my high expectations.
Next! The Makeup Forever HD Pressed Powder
• Okay I've wanted this forever and ever and ever but cannnnnot handle the price tag. So I saw this little mini and thought I'd give it a shot with the risk of falling in love
• Also tbh I meant to pick this up in loose powder but accidentally bought pressed *my bad, I'm detail oriented I swear*
• This is amaaaaaze. The only thing I dislike is that my powder brush is bigger than the actual packaging, but that wouldn't be an issue if I bought full size. I use this every day and you can't tell that I've used it at all!
• I also love that you have to use so little of this. When I was first inquiring about this at Sephora about a year ago the sales girl was like *USE WITH CAUTION OR YOU WILL LOOK LIKE CHALK FACE IN PICTURES WITH FLASH* I wanna give a shoutout to that girl for saving my life 👏🏻👏🏻. It's kind of like those memes about meeting drunk girls in a bathroom, I hope that this sales girl has a great life and accomplishes so many things just like all of those girls we've met during drunken nights in pub bathrooms.
In conclusion: Yes. Just, yes.
Lastly, the They're Real Gel Push Up Liner.
• Okay, I follow a lot of YouTube gurus (Holla at Ginger Wesson if anyone knows who I'm talking about), she's not a make up artist but her makeup is always flawless. Anyways, I love her and she swears by this stuff, as she says it's the easiest "cheat" to get a perfect winged liner.
• I straight up (get ready to shame me...) have NEVER, and I mean never EVER been able to do a winged liner until I bought this. Like, ask anyone that has ever tried to either a) do my makeup or b) watch me do my own makeup. My eyes are not the norm and I have such special needs when it comes to eyeliner.
• With the help of some scotch tape, this liner made all my dreams come true *see below for proof*
• The only downfall is the logistics of how to use it.. It's a twist system, and they say you only need one twist but in my opinion one twist is not enough and two is too much *minor details*
In conclusion: I want all of these, every day, for ever. And you should too
Okay ladies (and gents) hopefully this make give you some inspiration for your next trip to Sephora
