Apple Watch Series 2: Review & Tips

1.4.17

Many of you have probably seen me mention my new Apple Watch here and there over the last few months (THANKS SANTA) I've been using it religiously since November so I felt as though I've had enough time with it that I could write a sound review.

I've just recently become an Apple junkie (As I type this on my 5 year old Acer laptop), I only got an iPhone 4 years ago, I just joined iPad nation in the fall and have never owned a Macbook/wouldn't even know how to make it turn on TBH. An Apple Watch was never ever on my radar as something I would ever want or need. However, my parents were in the market for smart watches and after getting mesmerized by how cool they were, I was hooked.

It didn't take long to figure out and Apple hooked it up for me right at the Apple store so that part was excellent.

Favourite features:
1) Workout App

This has seriously been the biggest motivator to help get my butt moving. This tracks your daily calories, exercise time and steps. You can also set specific workouts ie. elliptical in order to track more accurately. I feel NAKED if I go to the gym without my watch. It's like... did the workout even happen if I didn't have my Apple Watch? (Ridiculous, I know)

I've also set my watch face to show the little progress circle so that every time I look at my watch I'm reminded of how LITTLE ACTIVITY I may have done that day. Desk jobs are hard OKAY.

2) Music App

I love love love this!! Right now my car doens't have bluetooth so I'm always running music through my AUX cord. Because of this I always have to pick up my phone to change the song, (Since Apple for some reason removed the shake to shuffle feature... THX APPLE) and I have serious paranoia that a cop is going to see me one of these days and think that I'm texting. and I'm a STICKLER for not texting and driving, so I hate hate hate having to pick up my phone. With my watch, I can have my hand on the steering wheel, make one tap to change the song and be done with it! Never even needing to take my eyes off of the road.

This is also great at the gym because I can leave my phone in my bag, and just change my music on my watch!

3) Quartz App

Whether you have an Apple Watch or not, I love this app. It sends world news as a notification to your screen with just a quick tidbit so if I'm at work and don't have time to read a whole story, I can get the brief run down from Quartz. I love this because I get the quick tidbit on my watch but then if I want to read more I can look on my phone for more info. The app looks just like iMessage so I love that! It breaks news down into laments terms so it's an easier read especially when you're on the go

All in all - I just love the pure convenience of this thing. Is it necessary? Absolutely, positively not. Is it a nice have? 100%

Picture your hands full running through an airport and your phone in your purse, your gate gets changes and you get a notification that you can see on your watch immediately. Without the watch you would have gotten all of the way to you gate, dug through your purse for your phone and THEN saw the notifications (And been cranky AF... or is that just me)

Again, first world problems I know.

Or quickly needing to respond to a text with your phone buried god knows where, you can do voice to text on your watch right away.

You can also use the watch as the shutter to your camera - which I LOVE but haven't taken full advantage of yet!

The series 2 is also waterproof so you don't need to worry about taking it off when you wash your hands, do dishes or head to the beach!

I've been obsessed with swapping the strap out too - it's been my favourite accessory.

I love it! If you're in the market, I would highly highly recommend.

Does anyone else use an Apple Watch? I'd love to know how you like it, and what features have changed your life!

Talk soon,
