Outerwear? Outer-where!

9.12.15

I'll admit that I'm a jacket junkie. I hate summer because I don't get to wear jackets *truth* ; so this time of year is when I flourish. Jackets to work, jackets to the mall, jackets to dinner, jackets to bed (just kidding...although sometimes it happens)

I feel like I'm alone in my own jacket-loving world, so I wanted to show a few possible winter jacket ideas that could easily be worn as outerwear or as an outfit even inside!

1) The Kim K jacket.

I call this jacket the Kim K jacket because when it's open it looks exactly like the kind of notorious long open cape-type jackets that she wears basically everywhere (did she wear one while birthing? We will never know)

I love this open, I love it closed, the world is your oyster with this jacket. I'm also keeping my neck toasty with this leopard print blanket scarf and a burgundy over the shoulder bag. I think the leopard mixed with the dark colour bag really makes this look quite classy.

I would recommend wearing something like this to a work function, or heading to an interview, or if you will be intending to wear your jacket inside because your outfit is just too amazing to to not show off (guilty again.)

2) The leather (pleather)

Leather jackets are so hard to *werk* because they are SO hot and sticky that the thought alone of wearing this in the summer makes me start to sweat. By the time you wait for the weather to cool off to be able to wear your leather jacket, it's basically too cold to wear it on its own so you're stuck trying to wear a leather jacket under a parka and you end up looking like the Michelin man (I speak from experience).

The best way to wear your leather jacket in the winter is to LAYER!! Under this look I've got a long sleeve shirt, as well as the scarf and leather gloves. The jacket alone will definitely not be warm enough to save you from this harsh Canadian weather, but adding these pieces to help keep in your heat will make your "fall jacket" turn into a winter option.

3) The outfit jacket

This jacket is really meant to be its own outfit. The leather detailing makes this look so classy and chic. I would wear this downtown or even to a meeting just a as it is. Keep it simple with neutral coloursunderneath  and make it pop with a bright lip.

I hope that I can convert some of you to be as in love with jackets as I am!
