fashion FOMO

FOMO = Fear of missing out.

People can feel this is so many different scenarios. It's always difficult to look at someone's "Instagram worthy" life and say "why not me?" This is a lesson I've learned throughout the last few years, is to stop comparing yourself to what others have. Especially in the days of social media where people are only putting out what they WANT you to see. For example, right now I'm probably going to post this blog with a beautiful picture of my cozy room - in reality I'm sitting in my bed with hair that desperately needs to be washed, a knitted forever 21 sweater that's got so many holes it's a shame, and heather grey draw string university sweatpants because... I can.

I wanted to chat about this a little today because even though I'm coming to terms with not comparing my life to others, sometimes I find this extremely difficult in fashion. This is the prime season for fashion FOMO because the seasons are changing and everyone is so "goo goo gaga" over fall. I'm just here to tell you (and sorta kinda myself) that in my opinion, and don't get me wrong, I'm no Anna wintour and I'll probably be un-invited (as if I'll ever BE invited) to any NYFW show ever because of this. In my opinion fashion doesn't need to have seasons. I don't think it's healthy for the entire world to throw out everything they owned in September 2015 because trends are different this year. Guess what? Trends are constantly fucking changing. I would be in SO much (more) debt if I ran out every seasonal change and scrapped my wardrobe. To be frank with you, I don't shop that often! And when I do it's usually at outlet stores or something that's on an insane sale because it's no longer "in season." Shocker, I know... none of you probably knew how much I loved the dynamite outlet.

Just kidding, I should probably get it tatted because every time someone says "WHERE IS THAT FROM" I could easily just like hold up my wrist or something and have that say "The Dyna Outlet."

A lot of people get almost offended when I say that I wear my clothes all year round. I am not that person that puts winter clothes away in the summer and vice versa. Although, shorts are probs not recommended in the middle of January, just saying. In terms of tops/jackets/sweaters, I wear that shit all year round!

My point here, is to not feel like you're missing out because you're not buying the latest trends every season or every year. Just wear things that you like! Plain and simple. There's 1,000 girls in a 50km radius of me right now probably wearing a maxi cardigan and felt hat (totally chic BTW), but YOU are going to get the praise for wearing something outside of the cookie cutter box.

Just be different! (I mean like... sometimes, you don't have to ALL the time - TBH bin trying to find a maxi cardi I like) I just hate seeing girls upset because they can't afford the latest, or can't pull off a recent trend. Who cares! Wear what you like, end of story. Never feel like you're missing out on something. End the fashion FOMO!

Anyways, that's my little rant of the day. I hope that someone, somewhere might be like.... "okay, I'm good. I don't NEED new ankle boots this season because the hardware on mine is gold and silvers coming back in style." Because this is totally a struggle I have personally.
