I went thrifting!

1.3.16

This week I've got a different sort of post for you! It's still a haul, but it's a THRIFTING haul! As most of you know, this girl is ballin' on a budget. As a new grad with mounds and mounds of debt to pay and a vacation booked just around the corner (I regret nothing), I can barely make bill payments let alone indulge in some extra shopping right about now.

My fried cait (you better read this) is always finding crazy deals at thrift stores throughout the city and she totally inspired me to get into this! Literally everything she owns.. "Where did you get that?" "Frenchys" - like, I don't even bother asking anymore.

I've tried thrifting a few times before but really wasn't that into it and always came out empty handed. However, last week I needed to have some retail therapy, and decided it was time to take the plunge and give thrifting another shot.

I started out with baby steps, heading to value village on a Sunday (worst idea ever, don't ever do that k?). With beginners luck I found not one, but FOUR omg worthy finds. And for all under $30.

First, I found this basic navy blouse from Gap Factory - I love this because
A) it was $6.99 and regular price would have probably been $34.99
B) it looks completely brand new
C) I normally don't like blouses like this but I really loved that this one doesn't have a collar so it can look more casual and can be worn under many different things
** also, pro tip: if you're thrifting, a Gap label with three squares next to "gap" means it's a factory outlet item and not genuine gap. This doesn't bother me because I like both qualities, but just a little FYI

Then I found another Gap treasure, this workout top that I have the EXACT SAME ONE in blue, that was exactly $34.99. I found this beauty for $5.99 and again was brand new.

Annnnnnnd my last but CERTAINTLY not least, find at VV was this Obakki sweater

Before buying this *$9.99* comfy cozy but also very sassy sweater, I had no idea what or who or where Obakki was. APPARENTLY it is a designer brand based in Vancouver that is endorsed by Kate Hudson and other *~a-list celebs~*.
What does this mean, you ask? This means....that everything in their website is approximately $400. I'm talking, shirts, for $400. Because they are now unloading their spring and summer collection there was no sweater equivalent on their site for me to estimate a cost of this sweater but based on the material and their other products I'd have to assume this sweater was roughly $500-$550. And I paid $9.99 at value village.

Let me just go cry tears of joy for a quick moment.

Thanks.

okay, back to bizz-nass. I got so thrift-high that I needed to go again this weekend. Last weekend was a warm up, going to value village and another store I had been to before. THIS weekend I was entering new territory, THIS weekend I went to goodwill in Burnside, a place I have never dappled before.

I must say I was impressed! I only came out with one thing but I do reeeeally love this one thing. This leather skirt from forever 21, that I was eyeing all last summer and never bought it because it was almost $40. I got it at goodwill for $7! Euphoria, I tell ya

I'm still playing with how to style this, but you get the picture.

So there it is, my first (of many) thrifting haul!

I would LOVE to hear from anyone that is a pro thrifter, if you have any tips or tricks or favourite places - hit me with it!
