Holiday Party Outfit Ideas!
6.12.15'Tis the season for weekend after weekend of Holiday festivities. Whether this be for work or with friends, there is always lots of social action happening around this time of year. The biggest question I hear around now is "should I buy a new outfit?" - The answer you want people to tell you is "YES" so that you have an excuse to go buy something for yourself amidst all of the gift-giving for everyone else in your life. However, I think that it's definitely possible to scrounge around in that massive (Yes, I know even though you say you have no clothes, you really have ALL the clothes) closet of yours and pull some pieces together to look like a brand new find.
I've put together three possibilities for inspiration that could easily be put together with some of your current closet pieces.
1 - The pant suit
There are many people out there who are "pants" people (You know who you are) and this is for you! Just because you're not showing off some leg doesn't mean that you have to look frumpy and under-dressed.
I've paired black Forever 21 Jeggings with a burgundy blazer from Target (RIP) over top of this super versatile tank that has some leather (pleather, shh) detailing up top, with a sheer bottom half. I love this top because it shows just enough skin to be a little bit sexy but still has a high neckline and can look quite conservative,
For accessories, I feel like it's time to bring silver back to life. Gold really took the fashion world by storm the last few years and silver is not getting the credit that it deserves. I love this look with this completely silver sequined clutch from Suzy Shier and just a few silver bangles so everything looks put together.
Last but not least I'm wearing black suede pumps to really polish off outfit.
2 - The work-fit
Okay. This skirt. I can't.
I bought this at The Bay a few months ago and am waiting for the perfect time to wear this! I wish you could feel the fabric because it honestly is as thick as a wet suit and is perfect for Winter. I've paired this with a red blazer and the same black tank as above for a little bit of cross-texturing. The blazer is a lot to take in colour-wise, so i would probably wear this as a jacket and take this off as soon as I got to the venue.
I love this skirt so much because it is the perfect flare. There are some skirts that don't have enough oomph and just look blah, Well here is NO lack of oomph here. This thing is amazing. This sort of shape is great from anyone who is skeptical about wearing skin tight skirts because this really hides any sort of insecurities that you may have.
Again, I've topped this off with black suede pumps. I've kept the accessories here non-existent because there is a lot going on. I wouldn't do more than a nice clutch and some simple studs.
3 - The "oh shit I forgot I've got a party after work"-fit
I have found a love for wrap dresses this year like no other. The reason is that you can wear them everywhere. To work, to meetings, to dinner, to the bar, to the movies - All if you accessorize accordingly. For the purpose of today I've really made the dress a background piece and wanted to make my necklace, shoes and clutch the main areas of focus.
I've used this chunky gold and cream necklace from Forever 21 as the main centerpiece for the black Eclipse wrap dress. For my shoes I'm wearing these nude stilettos from Aldo with a slight gold accent around the toes.
For your clutch you could really do anything here, a pop of colour or just a nude of some sort.
I hope these really help give you some holiday party inspo!
